Title: Army Builder Downlaod and Shooting question
Post by: Ludwig on February 17, 2019, 04:23:54 PM
Several of us Norther California players continue with download problems for the current Army Builder for Microsoft Excel and Libre Office. Would someone please post a link for those Army Buider PDF's so we can make sure we are current as the numbers differ depending upon the Army Builder PDS.

Also, played a game yesterday and was told of an online rule change I cannot find.
Is it correct that ALL front rank elements of a unit that is in combat if not engaged are now shot at with a minus on the die/

EG.    elements A and B are in combat element c is an overlap element d is 2 elements removed from combat. During the shooting phase both c and d are treated as if in combat so shooting at them frontally is now downgraded?

Thanks

Nope on he rule - you can't find it for a reason ;-)

Latest version is 2019.1

What problemas are you getting.  I'm finding it works fine in Excel or OfficeLibre so a bit stuck.

Download problem may relate to microsoft excel program but not sure. When I download the PDF from the meg website it does not work. Is over
sized and imputes do not take (eg: name or army and such).  I have tried to attached it and that is not working and also dropped it into this message with a similar failure. It is the Army Builder identified as MED 2019.1 and comes from the MEG 2019 Rule Material link.

The AB you linked to works fine but you do have to enable editing as it is a downloaded file and Windows marks it as potentially unsafe.

The file on the website has a link 2019.1, but when you open the file it refers to 2019 on the spreadsheet. An earlier iteration is labelled 2019.1 on the print page but is not actually the 2019.1 file. This has confused some of us here. The current spreadsheet is the second one, that only as "2019" under the skull.

OK, thanks. I have the correct Army Builder which says 2019 under the skull.
Will have to redo all of my army lists, but what the heck as there appear to be more points.
Thanks to all for the help.
Best,
Lenney

What does 'nope on the rule' mean ? As I have understood the threads on shooting, you can't shoot at an overlap from the front because it's engaged in combat. You can shoot at othe front rank troops (not in frontal contact or overlap) but at a disadvantage. If this is wrong, then I am very confused (again) because now you NEVER take the downgrade for shooting at supporting files. So hat does 'nope' mean?

It was the query "Is it correct that ALL front rank elements of a unit that is in combat if not engaged are now shot at with a minus on the die?".  The answer is no.  Only an overlap is shot at a one less colour.

My understanding of the rule is now corrected. Thank you. We had erroneously believed that overlaps were 'contributing to combat' and thus could not be shot at. Wrong again! I appreciate the correction.

Exactly.  RJC beat me to it.

So put another way

ENGAGAED BASES - cannot be shot at except a supporting file which can be at down a colour.
UNENGAGED BASES - fair target if you can get a line to shoot at them.

SO id

A1 A2 A3 A4
B1 B2
        ARCHERS

A3 is down a colour.
A4 is normal target.

Coming back to the army builder : it should be the one that has "2019" when going to the print sheet and not the one that says 2019.1 on the print sheet . Correct ?

Yes just says 2019 as the official one now.

.1/.2/.3 was my development ones at the time.

I'll them a/b/c if we update.
