Title: shield cover
Post by: badhabum on October 19, 2021, 08:51:32 PM
I had a new look at shield cover because I think some people just thinck it downgrades the shooting colour but that is not so, it increases the armour level which is subtly different.

So a protected roman soldier with shield cover becomes "FARM" for shooting which means a colour down for most weapons except:
- Artillery
- Firearms
- PBx/XBw shooting at or less than 1 MU

I am pretty sure this will be confirmed as per QRS and I ask only because in the rule book it states only that it is of no use vs artillery.

Then the effect on a unprotected with shield cover would be to be considered as protected.

I m interested in reading the confirmation on your question

what needs confirming? it works as you have written it, unit counts one better protection level and shooting and factors are worked out as such. It also has no effect for FARM troops unless there is a special rule like James IV pikemen.

the comment about being no use V's artillery is not exclusive and does not preclude any firearms etc, its an open ended statement not a restrictive sentence.

That's exactly how it works and if I ask it is just to have the confirmation of the rule as some people I know might argue just out of habit ! the rule is clear but some people cannot read the rules .
