Line 12 of ambush says troops in ambush may shoot at any enemy who come in range and arc and must be revealed on table immediately before doing so
Does this rule mean they shoot out of phase in the movement phase. Take archers in scrub can be seen at 3 bw, if an enemy comes within 4 bw, can they immediately shoot, being revealed in doing so, and if so does the enemy stop at 4bw, while this is done,
Thanks

no you still only shoot in the shooting phase. In your example your opponent moves to 4 of your ambush card, its not revealed as you are only visible at 3bw. In the following shooting phase you can chose to shoot and if you do so you reveal and place them immediately in the shooting phase and shoot.
if however the opposing troops march up to 3bw you are revealed immediately in the movement phase, must be placed, and cant shoot anyway until the following shooting phase or charge phase if charged.
basically line 12 is just making it explicit that you can chose to trigger the ambush to shoot without expending cards, unlike to charge from ambush.
Thank you, it was the wording enemy who come in range implying an immediate reaction to the act of coming in range that confused me, to me it would be better worded enemy who are in range.
I assume range is measured from the ambush card to determine if this can trigger in the shooting phase as we don't know the range to the unit till it is revealed.

deployment of an ambush requires as many bases as possible to be placed on the card and any that cant fit must not be closer to the enemy. So I cant think of too many situations where you could deploy a unit to gain distance to shoot beyond that of measuring from the position of the card.
