Title: A weird MF1 situation
Post by: jasonbroomer on September 20, 2021, 05:11:29 PM
something that cropped up in a recent game:

a) two TUGs, 3 bases wide fighting same enemy unit frontally (i.e. contiguously). The middle file of one of the TuGs is wiped out, leaving a gap in the line.

Can the other TuG use a MF1 to plug that gap, thereby inter-mingling with the friendly unit.

I see no reason why not but it feels a bit odd.

b) Subsidiary question, if the above is correct

I believe there is no movement distance restriction for a MF1. Does this mean that a base could be teleported along the battleline to provide an overlap support for the friendly TuG. Now that would be weird!

No this is not allowed.  The notes for MF1 state what is permitted.  Fill gaps is clearly intended to be fill gaps in your own TuG, not in another friendly TuG.  It has never been played that way and I as an umpire would have no hesitation in not allowing it.

There is an implicit restriction in MF1 as the notes state what you can do.  No teleporting to the other end of a battle line.

Great thanks. Thinking about it I'm pleased it would be ruled this way although some rules lawyers wouldn't be happy with mere implications
