Title: Latest clarries and dismounting
Post by: tarnowski1 on September 14, 2021, 10:00:05 PM
'IF YOU HAVE THE DISMOUNTABLE CHARACTERISTIC, CAN YOU DISMOUNT AND MOVE IN THE SAME PHASE? Yes you can. Dismounting takes a Yellow card, however, this is not a Prompted Action per the Prompted Action table and so does not prevent you making a move as long as you have the necessary cards/discs.'

can you move first then dismount in the same movement phase? I assume yes but thought I'd check in case I've missed a sequence issue somewhere like Dismounting happens at the start of the phase. I'd point out that something like Serb Gusars could move 12 BW in sug formation, dismount as formed loose Long spears in a single turn assuming a fortified camp/battlewagons/barricades were within 6BW.

Edit- follow up question, as its not a prompted move no block move is possible? so all TUG/SUG's would need their own individual yellow card to dismount?

This is answered by the Errata and Addendum item on block moves.

i couldn't see the bit in the claries that says whether or not a dismount can be a block move Nik.

This is the bit I think you are referring to mate.

IF YOU HAVE THE DISMOUNTABLE CHARACTERISTIC, CAN YOU DISMOUNT AND MOVE IN THE SAME PHASE?
Yes you can. Dismounting takes a Yellow card, however, this is not a Prompted Action per the Prompted Action
table and so does not prevent you making a move as long as you have the necessary cards/discs.

Thanks Nik, I take it you mean 'BLOCK MOVES Page 105 section E second paragraph should read "All actions on the prompted action table' which I missed in my read through, so the answer is indeed individual cards only.

says in rule book on page 218.

Prompted Action = All the actions that can be triggered by the playing of cards.

i think it might work best as a prompted action as Ray suggests as that would presumably allow a block dismount.

Before everyone leaps into this.

If dismounting is a prompted action then it is a fifth exception to the things you can do as more than one prompted action per turn (Page 80 - paragraph 14).
The clarification makes it clear that you can.

Dismounting needs to be clarified with regard to whether you can do it as a block move as it is not currently listed in the "What moves can you do with a block move?" section of the clarifications.

We will sort this out and get back to you.

But it is mentioned in the Block Moves errata item - we will need to align them whatever the outcome of this is.

OK, thanks to Ray's eagle eye spotting that one of the clarries was not consistent with the rules we will be putting out an updated version in a few days time.

However, in order to keep you all informed here is the updated wording of the clarification in question as it will be in the revision:

•   IF YOU HAVE THE DISMOUNTABLE CHARACTERISTIC, CAN YOU DISMOUNT AND MOVE IN THE SAME PHASE? No you cannot. Dismounting is a Prompted Action (see Glossary definition on page 218) and is not one of the exceptions to being restricted to a single prompted action or charge per turn listed under Universal Rule #14 on page 80.
