Title: Late Achaemenid-Theban Ally
Post by: martymagnificent on August 18, 2021, 05:56:49 AM
Should the Theban Ally in this list be 354BC (rather than 351BC) to represent Pammenes' assistance to the revolt of Artabazus?

Or did something happen in 351BC I'm not aware of (entirely possible)?

My understanding is that there was a revolt in Asia Minor in 351 BCE that was supported by Thebes.  There is some uncertainty over the date.  I think this is while Artabazus was in exile in Macedon.  This was while Artaxerxes III was occupied with the conquest of Egypt.

That is true, although I'm not sure of the scale of involvement. Pammenes fought several battles for Artabazus with 5000 Thebans in 354BC. Perhaps the ally should be 354-351BC?
