Hi!
Sorry for stupid question, but I failed to found answer in book.
Where in rulebook is stated, that you can contact enemy only by charge?
Thank you!
You may also contact the enemy during movement but in specific cases see pg 132 that explains it all
I've checked page 132, it explains, that I can expand to close combat any side/corner contact.
But how this situation can be possible? Can I' just use M2 to make corner contact? Or can I go m2 directly forward to contact enemy front?
Thank you.
M2 is moving directly forward. If you moved forward to contact an enemy base it would be forbidden as only a charge/pursue allow that.
You may create a corner to corner contact which is not a melee contact ( pg 134, A 5 ) and you might be able to move to place yourself as an overlap file only if another UG is in contact and already fighting the contacted base.
I believe all exemples pg 132 are easy
In short NON you may never move into melee contact except when charging, pursuing or cases described pg 132 .
p. 132: "Normally UGs may only create a new combat by charging or pursuing into enemy, or by being hit by such enemy."
However, imagine a situation where two UGs are facing each other and one moves forward in such a way so as to only make front corner to front corner contact - but both UGs being located in each other's close proximity zone. This does not create combat and so is allowed according to the above, but the maneuvers described on p. 132 (paragraph M.2.) don't address this situation - they seem to assume each UG is located diagonally of to each other's side. In fact, in the situation I describe, there is no way to initiate combat. You can't charge (you are already in contact) and you can't use the maneuvers described in M.2. It's sort of a hole in the rules as far as I can tell - I think the best recourse would be for an umpire to simply disallow it. Unless I'm missing something about the situation which is entirely possible.

I don't see how two UGs can be in front corner to corner contact and both be located in each other's CPZ. (It may be me!) If they are facing in opposite directions then neither will be in the CPZ of the other. If one is at an angle to the other then only one can be in the CPZ of the other.

Consider a triangle ABC. Angle A is 30 degrees.
UG1 is along the side AB
UG2 is along the side AC
UGs are in corner to corner contact at A and both facing each other.
Thanks, got it know. Page 132 doesn't allow wheels into frontal contact.
Although the rules don't explicitly say so, a UG should not be permitted to move into a corner-to-corner contact and facing an enemy UG in the Movement phase, it should stop a gnat's whisker away, thereby permitting charges in the charge phase. Any outcome move which would result in such a contact should be shifted the similar gnat's whisker either to right or left to create a corner to edge contact. Wargaming tables never conform to Euclidean geometry anyway.
In six years of testing, playing and umpiring this has never been an issue.

That's because you've never met anyone as devious (demented?) as myself!
Bwa ha haaaa!!!
(Still, even I wouldn't try to pull off that move - it's just so wrong.)
