Title: Competition etiquette
Post by: nikgaukroger on February 11, 2019, 10:29:20 AM
Nicked from Ray's suggestion in the comp section - that players should bring

Quotea print out of the army from the pdf to show their opponent

With so many lists available it seems polite to bring a copy of the list your army comes from for an opponent to peruse if they should so desire.

I agree.

I'm also interested at what point Allies are declared.

1. At the runners and riders stage. With date of army.
2. When you meet your opponent and tell them what you are using.
3. As a complete surprise when deploying your Army.

Personally I think 3 is the way to go for the official R&R published.

Runners & Riders should give the name and date of your army with any relevent sub-division/geographic division - e.g. Mid Republican Roman 186 BCE in Asia.

Nik, that means you have no knowledge of an ally until your opponent places it.  If you have the date and the correct pdf, you do have knowledge of the possibility of an ally.

If that's what you're saying, then I agree.

To be fair you only get one chance to surprise any body at a competition, and runners and riders give you the chance to understand the possibilities. Although i find not being surprised by the troops that are going to thrash me is only marginally better than not knowing ;D ;D

1 is a lot of extra work for the list checker as a lot of the info is not always clear on the list sent in.
My vote would be 2 or 3

I would say 1 or 2

Writting the complete lists of runner and riders and just add the exact year + allies should take about 5 to 10 minutes so not really hard work  :)

And so everyone knows what !

I vote for 3 for two reasons:-
A] Internal allies would be silly to do in the R&R ie Pilgrims with pilgrim allies and pilgrim allies
B] Sometimes the look on your opponent's face is priceless

I agree.

I too agree; I used to do so as a matter of course but nobody else did so I gave up.

What about Allies either potential or actual?

No axe to grind just wondering.

Not too bothered about allies personally - especially as for some armies you'd have to print out quite a lot of lists.

I did some official comp rules before.

The answer is:
a) it did say everyone should have a copy of their armies army list to hand to opponents
b) 3 is the answer.  Page 42 8.  First time you know its an ally general is when the general goes down. Of course opponent might guess.

I will do a competition decorum section now.  Organised can print and pin up.  Circulate etc.

Si
