Are MF1 & 2 moves only allowed at stage 5.5 in the turn sequence or can they be done as a prompted action during the movement phase.
Part 2 to the question, as I understand the rule a single card is played which then allows one of the following:
1 All Bases from a single file can be moved into another file to close a gap or create a new supporting file .
2 Move one or more bases from different files to create a single supporting file or close a single gap or add to a single file.
So If you need to move bases into several different files (for what ever reason) you need to pay a command card for each base moved into a different file.
Is this correct?
MF moves can be prompted in either the movement phase or the fighting phase (as indicated in the prompted action table) so this is either 4.3 or 5.5 in the turn sequence. Most MF moves are actually prompted in the movement phase (in fact many players forget or don't realise that they can be prompted in the fighting phase as this is after combat).
You are quite correct in that if you need to move bases into more than one file you will need to prompt each file that you are moving into separately.

I figured that was the case, and have been playing it as such. However I have been pondering why stage 5.5 exists in the turn sequence, and can only assume that the reason is to allow UG's that have been hit in the flank or rear as a result of a pursuit move to turn and face the enemy before the combat takes place in the following charge phase. Otherwise I don't see why you would wait to do micro moves at this stage. (unless I'm completely missing something)

It also allows you to create supporting files, fill gaps, create ranks to exploit opportunities/shore up issues that may have been created by the melee dice rolls.

I get that but the opportunity to reorg would stll be available to me in the next movement phase after my General has reloaded his cards. I guess if a general still has unused cards at this stage of the turn they could be used to reorg.
