Now that I'm finally Vaccinated, I managed to get a few of my friends to join me for a few demo games of MEG at my local hobby shop! I decided to start small with two 800-900ish point Pacto Armies:
Thracian Hill Tribes:
Warriors with Rhomphaia +melee expert
Warriors with Rhomphaia +melee expert
Warriors with Rhomphaia +melee expert
Warriors with Javelins and Spears
Javelinmen
Javelinmen
Javelinmen
Javelinmen
832pts
Classical Greeks
Citizen Hoplites
Citizen Hoplites
Citizen Hoplites
Cavalry
Psiloi Archers
884
Both armies got two competent instinctive generals.
We played three games between three players, alternating who controls what army each time, I ended up playing the Thracians twice, Greeks once.
I'm happy to say that the games went super smoothly, with both of my friends catching on really quickly, which I was worried about because I've had trouble teaching it to family members.
Unfortunately the poor Greeks lost all three games! Which makes my Thracians undefeated against them in the 7 or so test games I've played with my father (all Pacto, between 1000-3000pts each time, Alternating who controls the Thracians and Greeks each time). Those pesky barbarians always seem to have a yellow card to turn a flank charge when they need it... If anyone has any advice as to how to successfully outmaneuver tribal units with formed or drilled units I'd love to hear it, because it always seems like it takes several turns to get to the flank or rear of the tribals, and only one good card on one turn to completely undo it with either a wheel and advance or turn 90/180 on the spot.
Anyway, one of my friends is picking up an Aztec force, and my other friends says he's going to build a Jewish Revolt list, so I might actually get a little community grown here!
Great
Great job :)
