We are learning and working through the rules which at times is a bit difficult due to language nuances and usages.
Played a game with a friend who ran Early Imperial Romans
The unit in question was: Cavalry Drilled Average Protected UNSKILLED JAVELIN short spear SHOOT & CHARGE
I understand that shoot and charge CANNOT be used during countercharges or intercepts/
The Clarifications aka Questions Follow:
Are there some Special Characteristics that prevent a Cavalry unit with shoot and charge from doing the following? I assume they can do the following but want to be sure.
Can the above identified cavalry unit shoot as unskilled javelin if within 2 BW of an opponent during the Shooting Phase when NOT charging?
Can the above identified cavalry unit shoot as unskilled javelin if charged as per page 155 B: shooting at chargers that can come within 1 BW? Since they did NOT counter charge or intercept.
Can the above identified cavalry unit shoot as unskilled javelin if it is Not the target of a charge but the charging unit DOES come within 1 base during its charge?
I thought I read somewhere BUT cannot find the reference that Shoot and Charge are always treated as Experienced Javelin when they shoot and charge if at or within 2 BW of there charge target.
Thanks and Stay Safe during these Difficult times,
Lenney

That is correct - it is specified in the characteristic description on page 207.

As long as it has not shot in the Charge Phase it can shoot at targets within range in the Shooting Phase.

Yes. Which files can shoot is determined separately - usually obvious but worth bearing in mind.

Yes. NB it is the chargers declared Path of Charge that matters in determining this, their actual charge move may be different if the charge target skirmishes/runs away or intercepts/countercharges (page 132 point 5 near the top).

Nope - sounds like a bit of confusion with Charge Only shooting skill which is always Experienced.
