Title: Sumer and Akkad
Post by: Ambiorix on March 15, 2021, 12:43:47 PM
Hi Richard,

when you are searching for that Thai article in Slingshot, you might have a look as well in Issue 331 (Aug 2020) on 'Sumerian Military Camel Riders'.
Any chance this will be included in a future Sumer list ?  Will certainly add some extra 'flavor' to it :).

Cheers,
Martin

Thanks Martin.

I was aware of this article.  I noted however that there was no direct evidence for camels used in warfare.  It seemed to rely on the fact that the camel was domesticated and if so, would have been used in warfare.  I think the best approach may be to include a note providing for their use in scenario games, but I would like to see some direct evidence before adding them officially to the lists.

Regards

Richard

I understand Richard, but couldn't resist the question when I saw the beautiful Sumerian figures AND the 2-bowmen Arab camels of the Museum Z range and was hoping
to add these camels as allies :).

But I will probably buy them anyway and put them in my Persian army....

Aah,... the temptation of figurines....

Martin, the weak of heart....
