Good news! My fine-toothed comb has almost made it through the ruleset, much to the relief of some I'm sure.
I'm unclear if units in cantabrian & african remain in that formation when when they make skirmish or run away responses. The rules on p. 206 only explicitly say that you remain in cantabrian when you make a skirmish move. What about run away? (By implication I'm guessing they do not.) What if you are in african? (By the silence on this... you do?)
I think the implication of the rule is pretty clear. If you run away you don't remain in Cantabrian formation. That is the intention.
African is treated differently (for no obvious reason). If you run away you shoot as unskilled, but you remain in African formation.

Just checking I understand this correctly:
Cantabrian gives you:
on a prompted move -1 BW
on a skirmish move no -1 BW but -1 on the dice instead
on a run away you come out of cantabrian so no -1 to move and no -1 to dice.

The first 2 are correct. The third you still have a -1 on the dice as you started in Cantabrian.
