Be at the first ever PSC The Gathering: Sept 24th/25th/26th 2021

For some time we have wanted to have an annual gathering for the fans of Battlegroup, Mortem et Gloriam, NorthAg, and our other forthcoming rule sets.  Now we have one!

The Mortem et Gloriam players had massive praise for their event at the LGT in 2019. So we are delighted to announce that our annual gathering will be hosted by the amazing team at the London Grand Tournament.

We have a full 8 events - a mix of social and competitive gatherings - where our entire team of authors (Piers, Warwick, Simon, Dan, Alasdair and Mark) will be joining you for an amazing weekend of fun and gaming.  And as you will see, there a few specials   on show for the first time as well.  Please give the inaugural annual event your full support.

Details and tickets are already available on the LGT site https://www.lgtpresents.co.uk/psc

September 25th-26th with Friday night side events on the 24th

And as extra news ....

I have just commissioned a new Mortem et Gloriam Skullrollers World championship trophy.

This will be on an oak plinth allowing us to engrave the past and future winners of the event for the years to come.

Atop the plinth will be a fantastic 54mm diorama in a Perspex case by painting magician Andy Singleton using some wonderful 54mm Roman figures ordered today.

Having read the details I can answer my own question - yes there will be ReG! (I was thrown because you didn't mention in your intro Alasdair as an author who would be there).

It was copied from what has been announced so far by PSC so ReG isn't yet formally announced.

You can get a train to/from the hotel

Walk 0.7 mi (15 minutes) to Enfield Lock train station and take the  greater anglia train towards London Liverpool Street. Get off at Ponders End train station and walk 0.9 mi (18 minutes) to Lee Valley Athletics Centre, 61 Meridian Way, London N9 0AR.

Rinse and repeat.

Sorry guys but 3 games each of 3.5 hours and a 10:00 pm scheduled finish time on the Saturday is too hard core for us wrinklies so hoping to get a refund and maybe see you at a more sociable event where you can get into the pub about 7:00 pm. ::)

Mike has a good point here I think.

Quote
Games: Three 3½ games on Saturday starting at 0900, 1330, 1830; two 3½ games on Sunday starting at 0900 and 1330.

Makes for a long Saturday - the gap between game 2 and 3 especially looks too long at 90 mins.

Agreed

the timetable is bonkers. All that waiting around between games.

Game time should be 3 hours 15mins. 45 mins between rounds

still want a 5 game weekend

Post by: Hunter on July 21, 2021, 07:47:28 PM
I'm really hoping for 5 games as well Ray and I'd be happy with shorter breaks. I do like the 3 and a half hours per game thing though as it allows some on table banter without feeling that you are compromising the prospect of a triumph either way. I will happily roll with whatever Mr Purple decides.

Post by: nikgaukroger on July 21, 2021, 07:51:51 PM
As Mike has pointed out the published timetable is probably not really friendly - "Games: Three 3½ games on Saturday starting at 0900, 1330, 1830; two 3½ games on Sunday starting at 0900 and 1330." - especially the Saturday which could see a 10pm finish.

So we're thinking of changing it.

What would people think to 3.25 hour games? With either 45mins or 60 mins between the games so a 20:15 or 20:45 finish.

We will be keeping it to 5 games.

Views please.

Happy with a 45 minute turnaround.  In practice folk bash on when they know the draw anyway. Would prefer 3.5 hours but not massively. Just have to keep the banter for the 45 minute breaks! Britcon was normally a 9 o'clock finish which left a little time for a pre bed drink and moan. :)

You can usually start your games a bit earlier than scheduled time and/or start your evening festivities (beer?) at the table on game three. Having said that I imagine us old dudes will be pretty tired after the three games on Saturday regardless of when they end. But hey ..... it'll be FUN!

See you at the bashho.

In addition to the above confirmed entries we are pleased to announce that Panos Papadoc from Greece is, all being well, hoping to attend and will be using Almoravid (in Africa), 1090 CE, from the Reconquista PDF.

Congratulations to John Munro for winning.

Thanks to everyone who took part for giving the umpires such an easy time of it!
Thanks to my opponents for putting up with my slippery army!

List of armies which did well (top 9 - not necessarily in this order):
James IV Scottish  - John
Hussite - Cid
Takeda Japanese - Lee
Sengoku Japanese - Mark
Late Swiss - Steve
Sultanate of Rum - Nik
Imperial Roman - Paul
Mali Empire - Jason
Mitanni - Me!

Four of these are 16th century armies and fall into the scope of Renatio et Gloriam.

Particular mention to Paul Stovell and Mark Hargreaves who both got into the top 9 despite being relative newcomers to MeG.
Also worth mentioning how close the scoring was,  I believe 4th to 9th separated by only 3 or 4 points.

Hope everyone got home safely without running out of fuel.

Richard

four? only two have dates fully post 1500 and thats the Samurai. Mali empire could be included as well as that runs to 1670.

May I ask respectfully why my Nikephorians are not mentioned while they scored better than 3 of the mentioned armies  ;D

Don't worry I will not commit suicide out of dispair  :)

My apologies to Jacques for completely overlooking his Byzantines.  The fact it was such a compact army is no excuse (only 8 TuGs if memory serves).  A very strong performance.

8 TUGS your memory is good. I think I must have brought the smallest army of the tournament ( easy to pack and travell ) and I might have faced the most numerous army on the field ( 13 TUGS the bedouins ) unless there is a 14/15 TUGs army somewhere  :)

It was hard work and really fun !Even loosing vs the Mauryan indians was fun because it all depended on who would break one more enemy TUG as both armies where on the brinl of routing ...as you guess I lost the race at that point.

All good games and special Thanks to Nik for the saturday afternoon game . He will know why .

A major mistake in your reporting. Huub lives in Leuven and Belgium, even flanders, is NOT part of the Netherlands  >:(

You will have to study your geography of europe  :)
