Title: Clarification on melee
Post by: MADdaz on October 27, 2020, 08:03:39 PM
Unit A (superior) in melee with Unit B (average). Both start on GREEN and then Unit B drops to WHITE because of difference in class. I understand that. Does Unit B now stay WHITE or could it start gaining a colour due to weapons, special characteristics etc.

It can add any other claims that apply - quality difference is just another claim and doesn't preclude other claims - and after you have totalled up all the claims for each side then you work out which dice colour(s) apply.

Got that. So the Average unit totals its dice from WHITE in this instance.

Both sides start from Green. Then total up all claims for both sides - which includes any from a difference in quality. Then look up if either or both sides move up or down colour(s) from Green.

Qualify is not adjusted for before other claims, it is done at the same time.

Sorry for being stupid here. Because there are no negative claims on the  charge/melee claim choices how would any unit drop to a WHITE die then?

Because color of dice depends on NET ending differential. If one side has 3 plus claims and the other has 1, the side with 3 has a NET plus 2 and has yellow vs white.

Don't see it. If they both start on GREEN and the net claims are +2 to the superior unit, why isn't it a final roll of GREEN v YELLOW

Look at the attached image below, from the QRS.

Once you have totalled the factors for both sides you then look at the difference and if you are:

down by more than three you roll black

down by three or less you roll white

even or up by one you roll green

up by two you roll yellow

up by three you roll red

more than three up you start adding extra dice as directed

As an example if I have 5 factors and my opponent has 2, I am three up. I would roll red he would roll white.

I hope this helps

Because if one side is +2 then the other side is -2. You then look up the QRS "2 up" = Yellow and "Down" = White

Id you are down its WHITE and if you are down enough its BLACK.
On the up you go from GREEN and keep going all the way to DOUBLE RED.

Thanks chaps. It will sink in. Bloody Covid is stopping us gaming and it's getting frustrating not playing.

Don't worry all new things are tricky at first, and moreso when isolated as so much easier if somebody just shows you.
This Covid is driving many of us a little crazy.

Hi Si
I'm the only club member with the rules so it's been a self-teaching experience. I've viewed your teaching videos  but not seen one specifically about the combat system.

I'll see if I can do one this week on just that and shooting.
How the dice work.

Hi Si
Did you manage to do a demo showing how the melee/shooting dice work?

Hi Simon

Did you manage to do a teaching video regarding using the dice for shooting and melee?
