Title: SuGS caught by TuGs.
Post by: accard on January 24, 2019, 07:30:39 AM
2.7.2 states that SuGs caught by TuGs are removed unless there is an exception.

Are those exceptions only if they are behind barricades or in terrain where the chargers are affected or badly affected?

Even if caught in terrain, they die unless it is a TUG deployed as a SUG or a SUG bthat does not skirmish or run away and hold the ground in terrain at the beginning of the charge

Sorry guys but that isn't accurate.
Foot SUGs in terrain may stand and fight, they just do so at potentially poor odds, and of course with less 'hits' per UG than a TUG, but fight they can.

From Meg 2019 Rules Changes document: (although actually a 2018 change)

TuGs PUSHING BACK ENEMY SuGs
• ADD to page 67 E3
"Exception: Foot Skirmishers entirely inside terrain are not pushed back by enemy TuGs and must be charged to remove them (and may stand therefore and fight for the terrain)

Just what I wrote but in other words : a SUG in terrain and that does not SK or run away...

So from the horses mouth to be clear ...  and as intended

If in terrain a SuG can choose to stand ..  and has to be fought.  And in line with that it cannot be pushed back but enemy TuGs.  It has to be charged to get rid of it.

In good going a SuG cannot choose to stand vs a TuG and has to Run Away or Skirmish.  And it can be pushed back in the movement phase by enemy TuGs.

Any SuG that is hit by a  TuG after failing to get away using a Run Away or Skirmish id destroyed and removed.  Whether in terrain or not.  So once in terrain standing is sometime better unless speed differentials make it easy to get away.  IN SHORT whether in terrain or not they have been "caught on the hop".

[Note flexibles in SuG form are not blown up but fight, and do not push back enemy SuGs]
