Does a UG take a KaB test for each friend that breaks within range, or just a single test for any friends having broken?
I have been playing the former, and it does lead to some fun collapses! But I am wondering if it is a case of too much fun.
No it's quite correct. One for each that breaks to when things get tough it can cause a viral collapse. More dramatically in the Pacto game with smaller TuGs of course. All part oft he fun of the different variants.

Ha! Not sure if I was doing everything right this time, Pacto again, and anyway the result was spectacular.
3 UGs of Thracians fighting frontally against 3 UGs of Roman auxilia, with a Roman commander fighting. Each side has lost a base from two of their UGs.
A 4th Roman auxilia makes contact with a Thracian flank in movement phase and and breaks that UG at the very start of melee. The next file is fought and the Romans and Thracians, both already down to one base, break each other, and the Roman general dies. The immediate KaB tests for the general cause more damage, and more breaks result for the Romans so there is actually no more fighting to be done. The delayed KaB tests then break the remaining Thracians.
Some other base losses/wounds inflicted to those nearby to the melee as well. The Thracian side has two units of skirmishers, and the Roman side one unit of skirmishers, also break.
All that is left of that whole melee, and in fact two whole commands, is: a single base from the flanking Roman auxilia, and a dazed looking opposing general who has a single base of skirmishing foot archers left to control!
"Nobody gets out unscathed" .... in that case something of understatement.
Remember they are of course not all dead. Its total breakdown of effectiveness. But even using the campaign rules, which reflects that, you have a fair pile of bodies there!!
