Title: Pacto question: SuGs fighting TuGs
Post by: ShrubMiK on July 21, 2020, 12:57:19 PM

I've just been reminded of this question by Nik's comment in the other thread!

"SuGs may only charge a TuG if it is within 1 base of breaking"

In Pacto, with many aspects of the rules being scaled down, should this be changed to within a wound of breaking?

We want there to be as few changes for Pacto as possible.  In reality SuGs that charge TuGs in Pacto are likely to be broken quickly anyway so there isn't a great enough impact to require a change here.

It seemed to me like a more significant change in some cases of SuGs who suddenly find themselves with an opportunity to charge flank/rear of an already engaged TuG, and either tip the balance in that melee, or perhaps just cause it to be won quickly enough to avoid problems/gain advantage further along the line.

TBH I haven't quite got to grips with the rules for turning to face flank/rear attackers yet...I think in Pacto you can only turn the whole UG? Is that allowed when the prior frontal opponents remain in contact? So maybe the enemy does that, and the SuG ends up sacrificing itself to help its mates, i.e. not a decision to be made without careful consideration.

Regardless, whether SuGs becoming more influential towards the result of the game is a good or a bad thing is of course a matter of opinion!

Its kept simple.  Sugs can get stuck in a bit more which is good as its the fast version of he game.  But they usually also come a cropper.
