Title: 6mm gaming
Post by: MADdaz on June 29, 2020, 12:28:26 PM
All my armies are 6mm figures and represent one base per unit. Is it possible to play Pacto based like this? Would I have to keep a record of the numbers of hits a unit can take. Any other suggestions?
To make it clearer, the units are all in two, three or four ranks or scattered for skirmishers. Just not sure how i would use the army lists either. Thanks.

Hi Mad, well since Pacto is designed to be a single file at least you don't have files to worry about.
All you need to know is how many bases does each unit represent.
Mostly the answer is 2, and if you keep it simple then only poor units and pike will deviate and have 3.
I would just mark each hit with a tiddlywinks counter, dead marker, etc. Skulls are two hits.

For the army lists just pay the right points and you're sorted.
Makes sense?
stu.

Thanks for that. Makes it a lot easier. One thing, I cant see the points per unit on any army list. I must be losing it!

Points are calculated on the Army Builder, rather than in the lists. This allows for more robust points system with optional characteristics and point multipliers, and also it means that if point corrections need to be made then it can be done in one place without the need to update and re-post dozens or even hundreds of lists.

Marvellous. Thanks for that. Just remembered one more thing. How does the Minimum/Maximum numbers on the lists equate to how many bases I can field of a particular unit.?       Now the hard part - 50 quid off the missus😆

You have two choices.

a) Use them as 1 base anyway and use lots of them.  Then just set the BW you use for movement etc. as the width of you bases

b) do what we do with impetus bases and treat 1 large base as 4 Mortem et Gloriam bases.  Works nicely.  We have a wound marker and a small rectangular base loss marker that is 1/2 the width.  We put that at the back of the imaginary files to show where bases have been lost.

Send us all some photos please.

Just to clarify then. If I go with option B:
Seleucid list  - Cataphracts are Minimum 4 and Maximum 12 bases. I would interpret that as Minimum of 1 unit and Maximum of 3 units. Am I correct, Simon?

1/34rd rounded up so...
Becomes 2 to 4 bases.
Which you could have as 2x2, or 4x1, or 2x2 and 2x1.

Thanks Si. We will be using one base equals one unit. Big battles! Just waiting for my copy of the Compendium to arrive.
