Title: Pike Numbers in Pacto
Post by: RobAustin on June 22, 2020, 11:05:04 PM
So, the rule for converting the standard list is 1/4 minimum and 1/3 maximum, rounding up. For  those with max 8 or 16 pike max, things work out ok:

8/3 = 2.67 rounded to 3. One unit in either scale.
16/3 = 5.33 rounded to 6. Two units in either scale.

But at 24, 32, 40 pikes max in the basic list, things don't work out the same.

24/3 = 8. In Maximus you get three units, but in Pacto you get two units and two bases extra.
32/3 = 10.67 rounded to 11. In Maximus you get four units, but in Pacto you get three units and two bases extra.
40/3 = 13.33 rounded to 14. In Maximus you get five units, but in Pacto you get four units and two bases extra.

Should the rule be that in Pacto, for Pike round up to the number divisible by three?

...and I also assume kiels of 12 become nine?

Yes this is a slight oddity of the Pacto system, but the Pacto system doesn't always mean you get exactly the same number of UGs.  Things are essentially kept simple for the Pacto system.

Keils don't apply in Pacto as a UG can never be more than 1 base wide. The Keil characteristic should be ignored.
