The Two Simons Show
On launch day Mortem et Gloriam creator Simon Hall and historian, author and wargamer Dr Simon Elliott will be hosting three webinars through the day and playing two historical refights - one using the Maximus (large) version of the rules and the other the Pacto (compact) version. This will show you all how even the small game keeps the full character of the big version and what a great spectacle the Maximus version is as well.
Maximus: Simon E will be refighting the Battle of the Sabis, also known as the Battle of the Sambre with Caesar's Romans against the Nervii. This was fought in 57BCE near modern day Saulzoir in Northern France. The legions of the late Roman Republic and an association of Belgic barbarian tribes with around 60 bases on the Roman side and 80 bases on the Nervii side. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Sabis for some background on the battle.
Pacto: Simon H will be refighting the Battle of the Catalaunian Plains (or as it was often know in the past Chalons-sur-Marne) from 451CE. This is the great battle between Attila the Hun and his allies and the Foederate Romans un Aetius, as featured in the forthcoming Age of Attila book. This battle will also use some of our new Ultracast Goths and the armies have around 25 bases on each side. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Catalaunian_Plainsfor some background on the battle.
