Title: Shove Rules
Post by: AntiokosIII on April 04, 2020, 06:40:36 AM
I have a clear recollection of this getting discussed here before but can't manage to find the answer.

Unit A is 3 BW wide. It charges forward into Unit B so that only the leftmost base hits unit B. The rightmost stand steps forward into unit C, set about 30mm back from the frontline of Unit B. During movement, unit B expands into contact with the middle stand of Unit A.,so that when A conforms during movement the middle stand of A is not in contact (either side to side of corner to corner) with the right hand stand of unit A.

During combat, the right hand stand of A takes a Shove result from C. We could not figure out if Unit B would benefit from the shove, since the middle stand was not in any contact with the shove-ee. COuld someone point us toward the correct answer?

Sadly, I cannot reveal the identity of my opponent as we were playing in violation of a 'shelter n place' order.

A Shove result gives the +1 benefit to any neighbouring file to the one that inflicts the shove. (A neighbouring file has to be in edge contact and  facing the same direction of the file that inflicted the shove).  So the position of elements in UG A is irrelevant.

Thanks, RIchard. I perpetually confuse myself by focusing on the file against which the shove is claimed and not the file benefitting from the shove. After reading your post and re-reading the rules I must confess the rules are pretty clear. I was tied up in rhetorical knots of my own making, and your patience is appreciated.
