Title: evasion when charged in the flank.
Post by: John 63 on January 09, 2019, 08:53:32 AM
In a recent game a unit of missile armed cavalry were charged in the flank by infantry. We were unsure as to whether they could evade from the charge and if so in what direction do they move? The assumption was that evasion was not possible but we could not find anywhere in the rules covering this case

As long as they are of a type that can evade they have the normal option to evade - that they are being charged by infantry and/or from the flank is not a factor.

If they evade they have the normal options - directly to own front, directly to own rear, away from the direction of the charge.

Just to add that they can also choose between running away and skirmishing, even if they are unable to shoot due to the direction of the charge.
