Title: Late Achaemenid Persian
Post by: badhabum on January 23, 2020, 03:41:05 PM
As is often the case for me, being the organisator I tried an unconventional army . The lateachaemenid persian.
1 Comptent CIC
1 talented, 1 competent and 1 mediocre subs
1 x 6 royal infantry drilled close, sup, protected, short spear, experienced bow
1 X 4 kinsmen cav, drilled loose sup, short spear, protected, unexperienced jav, shoot&charge
2 x 4 cav, sup, tribal close, hrsarm/prot,short spear
1 x 4 cav,poor,formed loose, protected, short spear, unskilled jav shoot&charge
2 x 4 cav,average,formed loose, protected, short spear, unskilled jav shoot&charge
2 x 4 cav, average, formed loose, protected, short spear, experienced bow
1 x 6 saka, formed flexible, unprotected, experienced bow
4 x 6 greek hoplites, drilled close, protected, long spear, shield cover and shove

As I expected, with such an army you need time to get at a result . There are no units to get at the enemy quickly . I first faced CID and his cavalry army + skilled shooter. I managed to avoid disaster. I repulsed his right flank, part of his center and he was causing some loses on my right flank . But we needed time . More like a 4 hours game to get a real result.

My second game vs Kostas and his early seleucid was the same, I managed to make him run, I caused some loses he nearly broke 3 of my units but got only 1 . I was playing on time and numbers to wear him down but 03:30 were not enough .

I had to drop off on sunday so could not test it more.

It is an interesting army, but not for a tournament, more for a good evening enjoying beer and good games .
