As we do not play regularly enough, here comes a question I am sure was asked some time ago.
SUG : First do we agree that skirmishing is a prompted move and in most cases fleeing ( run away ) an outcome move ( most cases because a SK unit in terrrain that affects the charging unit may stay so fleeing is also a prompted move in that case )
So if this is correct both differ for the rule "passing trough friends" . A cavalry SUG skirmishing that encounters a friendly TUG will either stop to the front of the TUG or burst trough and go behing the TUG if the skirmishing move enables it to complete the move behing the TUG ( causing KAB to the TUG as per pg 66 3.1 )
But if it is an outome move ( fleeing run away as mandatory because the SUG is in the open ) , the SUG wil pass trough if they partially enter the TUG ( and also cause a KAB ) but end automatically behind the TUG . which is what we did so was it correct ?
Basically no.
Whether you respond to a charge by "Skirmishing" or by "Running Away" these are both outcome moves.
A cavalry SuG making an outcome move will pass through entirely if they even partially enter another UG as long as there is room for them to fit beyond. (9.3 D 1.2 p 66).
If the move cannot be completed then the SuG is lost (9.3 D 1.2.3 p 66)
Mounted SuGs making Run Away or Skirmish moves cause a KaB test on UGs being passed through. (9.3 D 3.1 p66).
(Note: All troops can pass through Foot SuGs or Artillery in any direction without causing a KaB test) (9.3 D 2.2 p66).
The outcome move can include a universal 1/2 BW shift.

Well it is what we did ( the SUG was running away ) . I do not know why I was under the impression that skirmishing was a prompted action . So even if the SUG is in terrain, may choose to stand or run away or skirmish, the 2 moves are considered outcome moves 8)
