How are TuGs with 'intergral shooters' to be represented? eg Assyrian Spearmen which in some rules have a front rank of spearmen and back rant archers say of 6 bases, being 3 of spearemen and 3 of archers. Would this be the same and also for other similar units with intergral shooters?
In the UK it is Acceptable to either mix spear and bow on same base OR put spear on front rank bases and bow on rear rank bases. The second option is my preference as the bases have more uses (if that makes sense). The TuG is defined when it is placed on the table.
The characteristic description gives a recommendation:

Representation on the tabletop should be by having a marker (a single skirmisher base is enough) or some suitable missile figures mixed into bases.
I'd suggest avoiding a whole rank of missilemen figures as there are units which are missile armed which are best represented that way and doing it for Integral Shooters could cause confusion to some.
Personally I use an archer figure behind the unit as a marker - keeps it clear for me as well as my opponent 8)
What units, for example, are there that specify that the rear rank has archers/shooters and the front rank spear or other weapon?
Maybe it would be ok to mix in the spearmen with archers, for example, with say 2 spear and one archer base in the front rank and 2 archer, one spearmen base in the rear rank, for the example of the 6 base Assyrian unit mentioned above?

An extra base can cause confusion, but only in a tournament setting.

I think a single base as a marker is not too likely to cause confusion but it could. Hence I use a single figure on a base as a marker - and as they differ from my casualty markers confusion is usually avoided 8)
Of course, as you mentioned, the defining of the troops as they are deployed helps as well ;D
Either approach is fine as long as its clear to you and your opponent. Don't want to be too restrictive.

Confusion LOL only if your opponent is being deliberately difficult !!! ::) Make it clear at the deployment. Simples ::)
We also use a bow foot SK base as a marker . Pretty simple . And if all the infantry is intergral shooter, just say so 8)

It can cause mild annoyance when your opponent has forgotten to tell you, is morphing farm animals for medieval spear and announces the fact as you declare your charge. 8)
Moral of the story .. never charge farm animals!
Yes it needs to be clear and have a. reminder somehow.
I use a base of LF at the back.
